Judicial Council Forms Update
On July 1, 2010, the California Judicial Council forms will be updated. These
changes will be available in Forms WorkFlow a week prior to the effective date.
Remember, American LegalNet is the official online publisher of the California
State Courts’ Judicial Council forms. To view the new, revised and revoked
forms, go to

Microsoft® Windows 7 and Office 2010 Compatibility for Forms WorkFlow
Microsoft® will not provide Internet Explorer 6, 7 or 8 security updates for
Windows XP SP2 after July 13, 2010 (last scheduled update was June 8, 2010) and
will discontinue updates of Office XP mid-July 2011. Windows XP SP3 will
receive updates until April 2014. Because of this, many of our clients
have begun testing either Office 2007 or Office 2010 (32 bit) in a Windows 7 32
or 64 bit environment. Forms WorkFlow’s 4.2.x installation (Microsoft
Office 2007/2010 (32 bit) Ribbon version) is compatible with Windows 7 in both
the 32 and 64 bit environments. If your firm is planning an upgrade and
has a received an MSI from ALN in the past, feel free to request a new MSI for
your test environment.
To start the process, please contact either Miki Kim or Michael Watson for more
information.
Note: Currently, Forms WorkFlow will not integrate with Microsoft Office 2010
64 bit. ALN anticipates achieving compatibility in 2011.
Court Rules Amendments
July brings a lot of changes for California attorneys. The California Rules of
Court are amended, effective July 1, 2010 as well as local rules for the
superior courts in California. July also brings an end to the furlough days in
California. Although many courts will still have furlough days, the last day
that such are recognized as holidays for filing and “counting days” purposes is
June 16, 2010.
California attorneys are not the only ones who will experience a lot of changes
in July; over twenty other jurisdictions are amending their rules effective July
